An Indian Palm Squirrel (Funambulus palmarum), also known as the Three-striped Palm Squirrel, foraging in a grassy habitat. Recognizable by the distinctive pale stripes running along its grey-brown back and its bushy tail, this small mammal is one of the most familiar and charismatic squirrels found across the Indian subcontinent. The squirrel can be seen actively exploring the ground, sniffing through the vegetation and searching for food. Indian Palm Squirrels have a varied diet that includes seeds, fruits, nuts, flowers, and insects, making them important contributors to seed dispersal and ecosystem health.
