A mature Asian Barred Owlet (Glaucidium cuculoides) resting quietly on a weathered tree branch during broad daylight. The small owl remains alert, frequently turning and tilting its head while scanning the surrounding forest. Its large yellow eyes, pale facial markings, and densely barred brown-and-buff plumage provide effective camouflage against the bark, making it difficult to detect in its natural habitat. Unlike many owl species, the Asian Barred Owlet is primarily active during the day, using elevated perches to watch for insects, small birds, reptiles, and other prey. The footage documents the species' characteristic vigilance and cryptic colouration in the wild.
