A brood of Scaly-bellied Woodpecker chicks waits for their parents to return with food, as they view the world for the first time, from the cosy comfort of their nest hole in Landour, Uttarakhand. The world has many disturbances and the sounds frighten them - dogs barking, cars, partridge calling, and passersby, but they take it all in as they wait for their grub (literally, grubs, in most cases!)... The mother regurgitates the pre-digested food for them on returning to the nest hole.
