Two remarkable native birds share the landscape in their own unique ways. High above the ground, a Black Kite (Milvus migrans) rests on a tree branch, surveying its surroundings with the calm confidence of a skilled raptor. With its hooked bill, keen eyesight, and watchful demeanor, this bird of prey remains ever alert, scanning the wilderness for movement below. Meanwhile, on the ground, a juvenile Indian Stone-curlew (Burhinus indicus) relies on an entirely different survival strategy. Its beautifully streaked brown plumage blends seamlessly with the earth and vegetation, making it almost invisible to predators.
