Brown-headed barbet feeding on mandarin orange behind leaves. A Brown-headed Barbet (Psilopogon zeylanicus) is seen feeding on a ripe mandarin orange in a tree within a quiet orchard in New Delhi. Partially hidden behind dense green leaves, the bird grips the fruit with its beak, carefully pecking and consuming the juicy pulp. Its earthy green plumage blends seamlessly with the foliage, offering natural camouflage. This intimate moment highlights the feeding behaviour of the species, which thrives on fruits and berries, playing an important role in seed dispersal and maintaining ecological balance in urban and semi-wild habitats.
