A Brown-headed Barbet perched among the flowers of a Red Silk-Cotton Tree in New Delhi. The Red Silk-Cotton tree, locally known as Semal, produces large red blossoms during the spring flowering season between February and March. These nectar-rich flowers attract a variety of bird species including barbets, bulbuls, mynas, and starlings. The Brown-headed Barbet is identifiable by its streaked brown head, green body plumage, thick reddish-orange bill, and yellow-orange skin around the eye. This arboreal bird species commonly feeds on fruits, nectar, and soft plant material. The video documents feeding activity and seasonal bird interaction with flowering Semal trees in Delhi’s urban environment.
