A Brown-headed Barbet perched on a flowering Red Silk-Cotton Tree in Wilderness Orchard, New Delhi. The Brown-headed Barbet is identifiable by its streaked brown head and breast, bright green body, reddish-orange bill, and yellow skin around the eyes. This bird species is common across the Indian subcontinent and is often recognized by its repetitive “kutroo… kutroo” call. The Semal tree produces large red blossoms during early spring after shedding its leaves. These nectar-rich flowers attract a variety of wildlife including barbets, squirrels, and other bird species. The video documents seasonal interaction between urban birdlife and flowering Semal trees in Delhi.
