A Rufous Treepie enjoys a refreshing bath in a a dirty village nullah in Delhi. Native to the Indian Subcontinent, this striking bird is easily recognized by its rich rufous-brown body, glossy black head, and long grey tail with a dark tip. Rufous Treepies belong to the crow family and are known for their intelligence, curiosity, and loud, varied calls. In this peaceful wildlife moment, the bird splashes gently in the dirty shallow water, fluttering its wings and dipping its feathers to clean itself. Bathing is an important behavior for birds, helping them remove dust, parasites, and maintain healthy plumage. After bathing, treepies usually perch nearby to preen and dry their feathers.
