A brightly coloured Rufous Tree Pie (Dendrocitta vagabunda) is filmed sitting on an acacia branch in Delhi. The bird is seen pecking at a smaller twig which is broken in the middle. Surprisingly the bird seems to have gotten some insect larvae to eat. Unlike most of the Rufous Treepies found in the middle of urban settlements, this one at our Wilderness orchard is actually looking for its own food. The bird population of Rufous Treepie in the city area are usually dependent on scraps of human food.
