Darchik village lies along the terraced slopes of a rugged mountain valley in the Kargil district of Ladakh, India. The turquoise waters of the Indus River flow through the deep valley below, with a narrow road winding along the rocky mountainside. Traditional stone and mud-brick houses are clustered across the terraced slopes, connected by winding paths and steps. Green trees and patches of reddish-pink blossoms add color to the otherwise arid landscape during the spring season.
