What a beautiful shiny iridescent purple this Sunbird is, with a tiny yellow feather patch on its shoulder, as its nectars on the red blooms of a Hamelia patens shrub. The scarlet red flowers of a Dhak tree attract many insects and birds. This Purple Sunbird comes to the large flowers for their ample nectar as well as to eat the insects attracted to the nectar and makes for a lovely contrast of colours.
