A large flock of Demoiselle Cranes (Anthropoides virgo) in flight over the arid landscape of Khichan, Rajasthan, India. The migratory birds, locally known as Kurja, are seen flying in coordinated formations, including the characteristic V-shaped pattern used to improve flight efficiency during long-distance travel. Khichan, located on the edge of the Thar Desert, is one of India's most important wintering sites for Demoiselle Cranes. Every year, thousands of cranes arrive from breeding grounds in Mongolia, Central Asia, and southern Russia to spend the winter months in Rajasthan. The footage documents flock behavior and migration activity against the backdrop of the desert ecosystem. This annual migration is one of the most notable bird spectacles in northwestern India.
