Black-winged Stilt wading through shallow wetland waters in the Jhalana region of India. Elegant Black-winged Stilts foraging in shallow muddy wetlands, a habitat where these slender wading birds commonly search for aquatic insects, crustaceans, and tiny fish. The birds are easily recognized by their striking black-and-white plumage, thin needle-like black bills, and exceptionally long pink legs, which are among the longest in proportion to body size of any bird species.
