A striking White-throated Kingfisher (Halcyon smyrnensis), also called the white-breasted kingfisher, is seen perched on a branch of the sacred Bodhi Tree (Ficus religiosa). The bird carefully preens its bright blue wings and chestnut feathers, maintaining its plumage. Its vivid turquoise back, rich brown head, and bright red bill stand out beautifully against the leafy tree, while the kingfisher calmly pauses and looks around its surroundings.
