The Lineated Barbet (Megalaima lineata) is a large barbet found in the northern parts of the Indian Subcontinent, along the southern foothills of the Himalayas and also in parts of Bangladesh and West Bengal. Like other barbets it is a frugivore. In nests inside holes bored into tree trunks. This species has an extremely large range, and hence does not approach the thresholds for Vulnerable under the range size criterion . The population trend appears to be stable, and hence the species does not approach the thresholds for Vulnerable under the population trend criterion. The population size has not been quantified, but it is not believed to approach the thresholds for Vulnerable under the population size criterion .
