In the urban green spaces of New Delhi, the Collared Scops Owl comes alive at night, revealing its secretive, nocturnal behavior. This small owl is characterized by its prominent ear tufts, streaked brown-grey plumage, and pale facial disc, which allow it to blend perfectly with tree branches during the day. At night, it becomes active, hunting insects such as beetles, moths, and grasshoppers, and occasionally small vertebrates. Its distinctive whistling call echoes through city parks and wooded areas, often giving away its presence before it is seen.
