With its large yellow circled black eyes, cute rounded face and brown and white speckled plumage, the Spotted Owlet is not even a full owl, as it is an owlet! Meet the urban owl of India! Spotted Owlets are common in India and even in urban areas like this one staring down at the camera from atop a sheltered branch in New Delhi. They are nocturnal in nature feeding on insects, beetles mostly. Notice the effortless twisting of the neck as it follows the calls of other birds. We are not sure if it is curious or trying to care away the cameraman with those poring eyes.
