An Oriental Scarlet Skimmer (Crocothemis servilia) resting on a blade of grass against a green background. Its golden-orange body, large eyes, finely veined wings, and slender abdomen are visible in close-up. Dragonflies commonly perch on grass tips and reeds near ponds and wet fields before flying out to catch small insects. Mature males develop bright scarlet-red coloration, while females and younger males are typically yellow-orange.
