A Cuckoo perched on a leafy branch in a Himalayan forest habitat. The bird has rufous-brown upperparts, a finely barred head, a white underside with dark barring, and a long tail marked with dark and buff bands. Its yellow eye, orange-yellow eye-ring, and slightly curved bill are visible in the close view. The plumage resembles the hepatic or rufous morph found in some female Cuculus cuckoos, but the exact species is difficult to confirm from this footage alone because similar species include the Common Cuckoo, Oriental Cuckoo, and Himalayan Cuckoo. Cuckoos are insectivorous birds known for distinctive calls and brood parasitism, with hairy caterpillars among their recorded food items.
