With its large yellow circled black eyes, cute rounded face and brown and white speckled plumage, the Spotted Owlet is not even a full owl, as it is an owlet! Meet the urban owl of India - a vision in bird! What lovely colours around the owlet. Note the soft downy feathers around this ullu's face, suggesting it is a first year chick. That would make it an uula ka patha. 1:22 Notice the eyes of the bird nictitating and the blackish dot inside the eyes seems to change shape according to the direction of the eyes. Since they are nocturnal in nature, their eyes have less capacity to detect colours but the rod cells in their eyes allow them to see in poor light conditions.
