The Himalayan lake of Roopkund is the starting point for the onward trek to Hom Kund and Ronti Saddle that lies on a col between the mighty peaks of Nanda Ghunti and Trishul that lie along the outer rim of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary in the Garhwal Himalaya of Uttarakhand. The peaks show scant show at the end of the autumn season just as winter is ready to set in, and the snow-line has climbed to the highest point just before winter snow brings the snowline all the way down once again... The mists and clouds swirl up in post-monsoon cold dryness and add to the mystery of this legendary lake with skeletons and skulls. Never before in recorded history has Roopkund lake been completely dry as in this October 2020 view. The post monsoon season has completely dried out the lake and the skulls and
