All the beautiful rocks you see are from somewhere in the Thar Desert. Most of them have something to do with the sea. They are remnants from a coastline that separated Madagascar from India 90 million years ago These rocks are nearly all examples of ‘desert varnish’ where minerals (usual oxides of iron) dissolved in flowing water have laid down thin coatings on standing rocks, A its name suggests, the desert varnish is a characteristic feature of exposed rock and boulders in extremely and environments. Walk around this miniature environment and see for yourself what a diversity of soil there are.
