The law of nature is strange and fascinating. Unexpected and full of surprises like this rare behaviour of Jungle Babblers caught on camera. Now we know Mynas and Crows are not the only thieves in the bird world! It all starts with this once abandoned Common Crow nest sitting in an open fork of a tree at our Wilderness Orchard in New Delhi. Our crew took the trouble of making clay or mud ka eggs and painting them bluish to look like real crow eggs. The fake eggs are placed inside the nests and action follows. Notice how the bird picks up the large eggs in its beak. But of course the eggs are too heavy for the bird. What is the Jungle Babbler exactly up to? Steal the eggs for food or displace it to steal the nest? Or is it just playing out its curiosity? Babblers are normally curious birds
