Surrounded by mighty peaks this is the barren plateau of Ladakh. ladakh was once the conduit through which past ideas, cultural forms, artistic styles and religious traditions from the plains of India to the high reaches of Tibet. At the turn of the millennium and unique form of Buddhist culture flourished in this trance Himalayan crucible. These magnificent monasteries and exquisite murals today are the sole repositories of a culture that had once flourished. These buildings and Oedipus's still stand as a testimony to that golden year of Ladakh's history. But today these sublime creations lie in a state of disrepair and their invaluable legacy is in danger of being lost to the world. But over the past five years, one man has been at the forefront of the crusade to hold the ravages of time
