The short-horned grasshopper, belonging to the family Acrididae, is one of the most common insects found in grasslands, agricultural fields, and forest edges across the world. These grasshoppers are easily recognized by their short antennae, sturdy bodies, and powerful hind legs that allow them to leap long distances to escape predators. Their body color usually ranges from green, brown, or grey, helping them blend perfectly with grasses and leaves for camouflage. Short-horned grasshoppers are herbivorous insects, feeding mainly on grasses, leaves, and crop plants. Using strong chewing mouthparts, they play an important role in the ecosystem by influencing plant growth and serving as a vital food source for birds, reptiles, and small mammals.
