A group of Bar-headed Geese (Anser indicus) moves gracefully through a shallow river, their reflections shimmering across the calm water surface. Recognizable by the two distinct black bars across their white heads, these migratory waterfowl are among the highest-flying birds in the world, famously crossing the Himalayas during seasonal migration. In riverine habitats, the geese forage for aquatic vegetation, grasses, and small invertebrates. Walking steadily through the water, they maintain close flock coordination—a behavior that enhances protection against predators. Their pale grey bodies contrast beautifully with the rippling blue and green tones of the river environment.
