Two Oriental Turtle Doves perched quietly on the thorny branches of a tree against a bright blue sky. These elegant birds are recognized by their warm rufous-brown plumage, beautifully scaled wing feathers, and the distinctive black-and-white striped patch visible on the sides of their necks. The Oriental Turtle Dove is a medium-sized dove species found across parts of Asia, including the Himalayan foothills and several regions of India. Their soft coloration and calm behavior help them blend naturally into woodland and scrub habitats. These birds are commonly seen perched on trees, feeding on seeds and grains on the ground, or flying with fast wingbeats through open woodland and rural landscapes.
