An oriental rat snake (Ptyas mucosa) moves through a garden in Delhi, India while being harassed by several mynahs. The birds circle, call loudly, and make repeated passes toward the snake, a defensive mobbing response to a perceived predator. The snake raises its head briefly, then continues to move along the ground before retreating into cover. The interaction highlights interspecies behavior in an urban green space. Ptyas mucosa is a non-venomous species and poses no threat to humans. Despite this, many are often killed due to misidentification and fear, although they play an important role in controlling rodent populations and should not be harmed.
