Lanius family Bay backed Shrike is known as Latohra in Hindi. With its hooked beak, the Shrike is adept at catching insects such as crickets. It often stores such prey on thorns by impaling them and then consuming the insect later on. Seen in arid landscapes such as Jawai in Rajasthan, this is a common desert bird.
