A Shrike's larder is a thorn! What lovely and rare behaviour footage documented here of a Shrike lardering its kill, Minivets on moist ground and a Hark Cuckoo hopping away triumphantly after grabbing a grub! What a display of birdlife at the edge of the desert in Rajasthan! A Brainfever Bird or Common Hawk Cuckoo explores the floor of the grassland and picks up a grasshopper. . A Bay-backed Shrike impales and consumes a lizard, in typical Shrike hunting fashion. The impaling is done to both kill and preserve the insect or other kill meat, and to consume it slowly over time, while essentially lardering it.
