A Plain Tiger (Danaus chrysippus), also known as the African Monarch. Identification and Characteristics Scientific Name: Danaus chrysippus. Subfamily: It belongs to the Danainae subfamily, commonly referred to as "Milkweed butterflies". Appearance: A medium-sized butterfly with orange wings, featuring black borders and white spots. Males are typically smaller than females and more brightly colored. Habitat: It is widespread across Asia and Africa and can be found in various habitats, including gardens, deserts, and hills up to 3000m. Behavior: It is known for its undulating flight and is a strong flier. The larvae (caterpillars) primarily feed on milkweed plants.
