A beautiful Himalayan woodland scene featuring a Black-headed Jay (Garrulus lanceolatus) perched prominently on the top branch of a tree in the forests of Jabarkhet Nature Reserve near Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, India. The bird sits alert on the exposed branch, displaying its striking plumage with a black head, warm brown body, and distinctive blue barring on the wings. In another glimpse within the same wooded setting, a Eurasian Jay (Garrulus glandarius) can be seen perched quietly behind leaves on a nearby tree branch. Partially concealed by foliage, the jay blends naturally with the forest environment while occasionally peeking through the greenery.
