A Kanwar Yatri walks along the road in Haridwar during the annual Kanwar Yatra, a major Hindu pilgrimage dedicated to Lord Shiva. During this journey, Kanwar Yatris typically carry a Kanwar, a decorated bamboo pole balanced on their shoulders. On both ends of this pole, they hang holy water pots (kalash) filled with Ganga Jal collected from places like Haridwar, Gaumukh, or Gangotri. The Kanwar is often adorned with saffron cloth, flowers, bells, pictures of Lord Shiva, and religious symbols. Some yatris also carry personal essentials such as a small bag, water bottles, protective footwear, and sometimes devotional flags. Many groups travel barefoot as an act of devotion. The collected Ganga water is taken to their hometown Shiva temples, where it is offered on the Shiva Linga during Shrav
