Chicks struggle for their parents' attention, squawking and opening their beaks even as their eyes are closed and they are essentially blind to the world. All are oblivious to the noisy Ring Road below their nest, in crowded New Delhi city! A Kauwa or Corvus splendens - the House Crow of India. Blue eggs speckled with brown sit in the nest alongside newly-hatched chicks. The parents tear apart a morsel of meat to feed to the new borns. Remarkable that they can digest meat this soon into their lives... Meanwhile, protecting them from the harsh summer sun is a greater prerogative for their mother.
