Chicks struggle for their parents' attention, squawking and opening their beaks even as their eyes are closed and they are essentially blind to the world. Big red gapes stick up above their black forming bodies, begging for food! A Kauwa or Corvus splendens - the House Crow of India. Blue eggs speckled with brown sit in the nest alongside newly-hatched chicks. The parents tear apart a morsel of meat to feed to the new borns. Remarkable that they can digest meat this soon into their lives... Meanwhile, protecting them from the harsh summer sun is a greater prerogative for their mother. The father crow comes in a piggy-backs atop the mother, to lend her shade from the sun!
