Both a female and male Indian Peafowl, commonly known as a peahen and peacock, moving through tall green grass in New Delhi. The Indian Peafowl is native to the Indian subcontinent and is proudly recognized as the national bird of India. The female peafowl, or peahen, is seen foraging quietly through the vegetation. Unlike the brightly colored male, the peahen has mottled brown plumage that provides natural camouflage while nesting. She also features an iridescent green neck, a small fan-shaped crest on her head, and distinctive white facial markings around the eyes. The male peacock stands out with its brilliant metallic blue neck and breast along with its iconic elongated “train” of decorative upper tail feathers.
