A young Indian Peafowl foraging through the grassy surroundings of Wilderness Orchard. Also known as the Common Peafowl or Blue Peafowl, this magnificent species is the National Bird of India. The bird appears to be a juvenile or second-year male, identifiable by its vibrant blue neck and chest, barred wing feathers, and relatively short brown tail that lacks the spectacular eye-spotted train of a fully mature peacock. Captured in a typical feeding posture, the young peafowl searches the ground for seeds, grains, insects, and other small food items hidden among the grass.
