It is fascinating and comical how birds use ants as a grooming and maintenance source but wait this is Himalayan Amla tree trunk! Filmed at our Wilderness Orchard in New Delhi, a Black-rumped Flameback is incessantly digging into the bark of the Amla tree trunk and preening itself with the extract. On the same tree is a female Asian Koel. We are not sure if it is also sitting on the branch as a form of 'Passive anting' or is it waiting for ants to crawl through its plumage.
