Fancy new name Black rumped Flameback for good old Golden-backed Woodpecker pecking away at wood around its nest hole on a tree trunk at the Wilderness Orchard in Delhi. Notice the four toes that this Katphora has! A Golden-backed Woodpeckers or Black rumped Flameback couple start excavating their summer-time breeding nest-hole in a Casuarina tree at the Wilderness Orchard in New Delhi. Now called a Flameback but previously and always known to us as the good old Golden-backed Woodpecker, a Katphora it will always remain! Inquisitively peeking out of its newly excavated nest hole, the Woodpecker surveys its new domain... This Katphora or Golden-backed Woodpecker (now known as the Lesser Flameback) lives up to its name, by excavating a nest-hole within the dead tree trunk of a Casuarina tree
