Hear the lovely call of the Large Green Barbet - "Kutroo, kutroo, kutroo!" Feeding on the waxy blooms of the Sehmal tree, consuming its pollen and insects drawn to the flowers, it cranes its neck out in a strange little fashion, and assumes as odd posture. The beautiful Large Green Barbet and the invariably present Rose-ringed Parakeets are common visitors to Sehmal or Silk Cotton trees. The Barbet is more delicate but the Parakeets tear into and destroy the flowers. The least damaging is the Purple Sunbird which just pollinates the flowers, while collecting nectar - the textbook pollinator and the sort of visitor the tree actually likes.
