A Collared Owlet (Collared Pygmy Owl) is perched on a tree branch during daylight hours in a forested habitat. The small owl turns its head backwards, revealing the distinctive false eye-like markings on the back of its head. These dark markings resemble large eyes and are believed to help confuse predators or other animals by creating the illusion that the bird is constantly watching. The owl’s compact body, barred plumage, and alert posture are visible while it remains perched quietly among the branches. Collared Owlets are small forest owls commonly found in Himalayan and Southeast Asian woodland habitats. The footage captures the bird’s defensive visual adaptation and close details of its plumage and posture.
