Two bird species found in the Himalayan region: The Upland Pipit (Anthus sylvanus) and the black-headed jay (Garrulus lanceolatus). The Upland Pipit stands on a mound of dry soil among grass stalks, displaying streaked brown plumage, a slender pointed bill, and pale orange legs. It looks around while blending into the dry ground and surrounding vegetation. A Black-headed Jay perched on bare branches with yellowing autumn leaves. Its black cap, pale streaked throat, pinkish-brown body, and blue-barred wing and tail feathers are visible in close-up.
