A female Purple Sunbird (Cinnyris asiaticus) moves actively through dense tree branches and green foliage. The small bird repeatedly hops from one thin branch to another, displaying its olive-grey upperparts and pale yellowish underside. Its slender, downward-curved beak is well adapted for feeding on flower nectar. Purple Sunbirds are common across India and are frequently found in gardens, cultivated areas, scrublands and light forests. They mainly feed on nectar but also consume insects and spiders.
