Numerous Black Kites (Milvus migrans) gather along the banks of the Yamuna River in New Delhi, creating a dynamic riverside scene. Some kites are seen dipping into the shallow water, bathing and splashing their wings to cool off and clean their feathers. Others lower their sharp beaks to drink, remaining alert even as they hydrate. A few stand calmly on the sandy edges, scanning the surroundings with piercing eyes. These adaptable raptors thrive in urban landscapes, often soaring above the city skyline before descending to the riverbanks. The gathering highlights their social behaviour and the Yamuna’s role as an important urban habitat for birdlife.
