A large number of Black Kites (Milvus migrans) gather around the Ghazipur dumping yard in Delhi, India. Dozens of birds perch on a tall steel electricity transmission tower, while others soar and circle above the landfill under a cloudy sky. The birds use the transmission infrastructure as elevated perches and can be seen moving across the sky above the waste-covered landscape. Ghazipur and its surrounding waste and market areas provide feeding opportunities for these adaptable urban raptors.
