One of India's most remarkable wildlife spectacles—a vast congregation of Demoiselle Cranes (Anthropoides virgo) at Khichan village in Rajasthan. Known locally as Kurja, these elegant migratory birds travel thousands of kilometers from Central Asia, Mongolia, and northeastern China to spend the winter in the warm desert landscapes of western India. This small settlement in Rajasthan's Phalodi district has become internationally famous for its extraordinary conservation efforts and long-standing relationship with these migratory visitors.
