We have grown up listening to stories and poems about the 'wise old owl'. In this chapter, we read how the narrator's family rescued tiny spotted owlets. Let us take a closer look at some owlets found in India. The spotted owlet is a common species of owls found in Asia, including India. They are small, barely measuring 20 cm. Their habitat consists of open farmlands and even places occupied by humans. This little owls have adapted to living in cities among us humans. The spotted owlet lives in small groups in the hollows of trees, or in cavities in rocks or buildings. It nests in a hole in a tree or a building to lay eggs.
