Atop on the hillock of Jawai Bandh in Rajasthan stands a peafowl. The peafowl stares and looks all around. A flock of peafowls can then be seen standing on the hills roaming and socializing with each other as if they are discussing something important standing with pride and beauty. Peacocks and peahens—these are the birds known as peafowl, members of the pheasant family. Although most people call the species peacocks, the word really only refers to the male bird. Just like among chickens, where the male is called a rooster or cock and the female is called a hen, male peafowl is peacocks, female peafowl are peahens, and babies are peachicks!
