A large flock of waterbirds resting and foraging along the Kathajodi River in Cuttack, Odisha, an important riverine ecosystem connected to the Mahanadi River system. The scene highlights the rich biodiversity of Odisha's wetlands, which serve as critical habitats for both resident and migratory bird species. Scattered across the shallow waters and exposed sandbars, numerous birds can be observed feeding, resting, and moving through the river landscape. While individual species are difficult to identify from a distance, the Kathajodi River regularly hosts a variety of waterbirds, including Cormorants, Lesser Whistling Ducks, Gadwall, Northern Pintails, Greylag Geese, and other migratory visitors.
