Shikra (Accipiter badius) standing on the ground among dry leaves and moss. The small hawk remains mostly still, occasionally turning its head as it scans the surrounding area. Its slate-grey upperparts, rufous-barred underparts, long tail, hooked bill, and orange eyes are visible in close-up. Shikras are small raptors found widely across India and hunt prey including lizards, small birds, rodents, and large insects. The footage captures the bird after it moves down from a perch, remains on the forest floor, then moves away.
